Special Needs Ministry at the Woodway CampusPromise Land exists to reach individuals with special needs, and their families, with the Good News of Jesus Christ. We desire for our participants to feel safe, loved, and to have the freedom to be themselves while in Promise Land. Our program allows them to grow emotionally, socially, and spiritually alongside others with special needs or disabilities. Promise Land allows families of those with special needs to connect to the life of the Second Family through Worship and Bible Study while their participant is in the care of Promise Land.
The Promise Land Ministry is equipped with contracted medical care staff, part-time staff, and volunteers who are passionate about special needs ministry. Volunteers are required to pass a background check to serve.
Times & Location
Promise Land is open during all Woodway Campus Worship and Bible Study hours on Sunday mornings (8:15, 9:30 & 11:11AM). A limited number of reserved parking spaces are available for Promise Land families directly in front of the facility. We are located at 6530 Woodway Drive, Houston, Texas 77057.
Please note: In order to ensure our team is adequately prepared to care for your Promise Land participant, registration must be submitted, reviewed and approved prior to the participant's attendance at Promise Land. You will not be able to drop off your participant in Promise Land until one of our Staff members has reached out to you regarding their first day of attendance.
Promise Land Features
Worship
9:30AM Preschool, Kindergarten, and Elementary Age Worship Time
9:30 AM Middle & High School Age Worship Time
11AM Adults (Ages 18+) Worship Time
Elementary and younger attend worship together. Middle and High School attend worship together.
Bible Study Classrooms
Promise Land classrooms are designed to assist participants in their overall development. Each week participants will get the opportunity to join others for Bible Study in a safe and welcoming classroom setting. A variety of activities are incorporated into the Bible Study lessns where they can use fine motor and tactile skills.
The participants are placed in a classroom based on their individual needs and the best fit for them.
Sensory Room
This interactive, calming and captivating space is used throughout Sunday morning by all ages on an “as needed” basis. This room is mainly used for calming and de-escalating behaviors. The equipment in this room is interconnected and can be controlled through several different remote controls. This creates a fun and interactive element for the participants.
Indoor Playground
The indoor playground is a fun and exciting space for participants who are 17 and under only. It includes fun slides, interactive touch panels, padded soft floors, and other neat features within the climbing structure. This indoor playground is used as part of our Sunday morning rotations.
Teen/Adult Hangout Room
This space is for teen and adult participants to socialize and hang out with one another. It includes basketball, air hockey, foosball, and other inclusive games. This room helps build community through play and fellowship.
promise land REGISTRATION Process
Parents or guardians of a prospective participant must do the following prior to dropping off in Promise Land:
1. Complete the online registration form below.
2. Speak to one of our team members to review the registration form.
Our team will contact the parent/guardian once a completed form is received.
3. Once our team has reviewed and approved a participant, the parent/guardian will receive a start date. A participant cannot be dropped off in Promise Land without official approval and a start date as determined by our team.
