Dear Church Family,
Before every sermon I ask God to help me get out of the way so that His Word might be clearly heard, understood, and incorporated into our daily living. These are not simply words I utter out of habit. This prayer truly expresses the deepest desire of my heart, as I stand to speak for Him. It is therefore most thrilling for me to see so many of our Second Family members incorporating into their daily lives the biblical principles we discover week after week and becoming better equipped to reach non-believers in our culture with the good news of Jesus Christ.
We all know that one of the best ways we can impact our culture for Jesus, especially our surrounding community, is to serve as He served. If you are a guest with us today, let me assure you this truly is a loving and serving church. Our members faithfully minister through our mission centers, homeless shelters, pregnancy centers, prison ministries, support groups, nursing homes, as well as our ongoing programs such as SecondKids, Student Ministry, Men’s and Women’s Ministries, Prayer and Care, Worship and Music, Winning Walk, Sports and Fitness, and Bible Study, to name a few. Yes, the Second Family is making a difference on many fronts.
Therefore, you have been and will continue hearing about ways to get connected and involved at Second, especially through Serve Houston, various mission endeavors and trips, and special spring and summer programs and events. Members and guests alike, I trust you will continue to take advantage of the many opportunities afforded you to grow, get involved, and reach out. In so doing, you will discover the true joy that comes as the fruit of giving yourself away for the Lord.

Join us as we study God's Word through this fall! MasterLife is a biblical process for growing disciples where you will learn how to: understand God's Word, communicate through prayer, store God's Word in your heart, connect with a community of believers and share your faith with others.
Bring joy to a child in need! Pack shoeboxes with a variety of small gifts for children in more than 170 countries. The boxes you fill with toys, personal hygiene items and school supplies will help bring the Good News of Jesus to children around the world.
Drop off filled shoeboxes in the Atrium/Lobby of your campus throughout the month of July.
Celebrate the Easter season with the Second Family. First, download our 21-day devotional and draw near to the Lord through reflection, repentance, and refreshing. Then, prepare your heart as you walk through Christ’s last days in an immersive, self-guided journey at the Passion Week Experience. Finally, celebrate our risen Savior at one of our Easter services next weekend.

Millions of children reside in orphanages throughout the world and are in desperate need of new shoes and a new pair of socks. It's not too late to drop off new shoes and socks to the designated bins on your campus, which will then be delivered to orphanages around the globe. In a world where a little can mean so much, this simple gift lets a child know they have not been forgotten.
Second offers many opportunities throughout the year to help women grow in their walk with the Lord. Our fall lineup of weekday studies will encourage and challenge women to deepen their relationship with Christ.
Receive the foundation and tools necessary to navigate your way to a healthy, successful marriage. This workshop is open to couples who are seriously dating, engaged or newly married. Upon completion, you will receive a certificate good for a discounted marriage license in any county in the state of Texas.
