Passion Week Experience Self-guided Tour
Monday, Apr. 2 - Friday, Apr. 6
Woodway Worship Center
Last year, thousands of individuals encountered the power of amazing walk-through displays depicting the events leading up to the crucifixion of Jesus. Once again, this year Second Family members as well as visitors are invited to embrace the Passion story as they participate in this reflective experience on each of our five campuses.
Early believers sought to more fully remember the events of the Passion Week by setting up trails, with guided stops along the way, built to remind themselves of various events leading up to the crucifixion. At the self-guided tour, there are eight areas displaying items associated with the events surrounding the betrayal and crucifixion of Jesus. You are asked to walk up and observe each item. If you wish, you may touch, pick up or even smell any of the items. Experience the Last Supper and its foreshadowing of the cross; sit in the Garden of Gethsemane and sense the anguish; feel the crown of thorns and spikes and imagine the pain. Printed guides (written by Gary Thomas), in English and Spanish as well as for children, will help you reflect on each element’s relevance to the story of Good Friday and how its truth can make an impact on your life today.
This is not a traditional rendering of the Stations of the Cross but a fresh take on an ancient practice to help us prepare ourselves to more fully remember and embrace the Passion story.
