We have many members or former members of Second Baptist that have been called to the mission field. Please have your classes pray for them or "adopt a missionary" and pray for them once a month. Please click this link to see a full list of our missionaries.
Second offers many opportunities to participate in mission trips designed with both single adults and families in mind, within the continental United States, as well as to international destinations. Trips focus on a variety of activities, including Vacation Bible School, community outreach, building projects, church planting and medical and/or dental services. Throughout the year, up-to-date information, trip costs and training dates are posted on this page.
Mission Trip Application Process
1. Click here to apply for a Mission trip.
2. Upon receipt of your application, an interview with be scheduled.
3. Once the interview has taken place and you have been approved to serve on a team, you will receive confirmation of your acceptance, along with a packet of information on how to build a team for financial and prayer support, the cost of the trip, trip guidelines and expectations, and a sample support letter.
4. Within 14 days of your approval, a $200 non-refundable deposit is due in the Missions Office. This deposit will secure your airline ticket for the trip.
5. After your deposit has been received, your name and contact information will be given to the trip leader who will contact you regarding mandatory training dates and other important trip details.

Mission Trips 2017
The trips listed below will provide you with an opportunity to impact our world for Christ. Through the years, we have seen person after person step out of their comfort zone and embrace God's call on their life, never to be the same. This page will be updated frequently regarding trip dates, leadership and trip costs, so please check back often!
April 29-May 6 (Deadline to apply: Jan 30)

Work with refugees from Syria and other Middle Eastern countries housed in Lebanon. Medical care, food distribution, clothing distribution, education and children's ministry will be some of the many ministry efforts of this team.
April 30 - May 6 (Deadline to apply: March 15)

Living Water International drills water wells around the world. This team will travel to El Salvador to provide clean water in impoverished communities there, as well as teaching hygiene and sharing Christ.
July 8 - 15 (Deadline to apply: April 8)

Alaska Missions is expanding their campus facilities and their influence in the community. The team will participate in building projects on the Kenai Peninsula at the ministry headquarters and in town.

The purpose of this family friendly trip is to serve the 105 orphans of Casa Hogar Allegre in Tuxtla Gutierrez. This team will host VBS for the children, organize special events and provide light maintenance and repair of the orphanage.
July 11-18 (Deadline to apply: April 11)
This is a family friendly trip to Alaska. Each year thousands of residents converge on the Kenai Peninsula to stock up on Salmon for the winter. This team will provide event coordination, children’s ministry and serve free food while creating opportunities to share Christ and bring awareness of a safe haven for women and children.
July 13 - 31
Experience a mission trip without leaving home through the American Exposure Program, a Chinese student exchange sponsored by the Sichaun Province Department of Education. In the course of daily interaction with host families and others, Chinese teens enhance their English language skills, learn the values of a different culture and gain experience in our American lifestyle. Moreover, the host families will model and share their Christian values with the students. If you are interested in hosting students, contact the missions office at 713-365-2338.
September 15-24 (Deadline to apply: June 15)
Show Hope is a ministry caring for orphans around the world. Travel to Louyang to spend time serving, loving and caring for over 140 special needs orphans. Grow in knowledge and grace needed for to address the orphan problem worldwide.
October 21-28 (Deadline to apply: July 21)

Together with the myLIFEspeaks, this family-friendly trip will offer discipleship, VBS for orphaned children and light maintenance and repair as needed. myLIFEspeaks was created to provide orphan care and orphan prevention, education, and public health.

This is an amazing opportunity to join in a church planting effort. Hear outstanding teaching in the early morning hours and then spend the balance of the day sharing the gospel message. You will share your faith up to 20 times a day with individuals and groups.
November 11-18 (Deadline to apply: Aug 11)
For All Mankind Movement is reaching India for Christ. Join this team in Punjab, India to work in teams of 3 visiting homes and inviting people to an evening service in a local church plant. Share stories of God’s power and redemption and pray with hundreds, if not thousands, on this challenging trip.

On this all men's trip, you will travel to the labor camps of Dubai. Every evening after their work day, you will spend time with men from around the world sharing the power of God to change lives.
